We operate from offices in New York and Boston.
Global Equity & Commodity Derivatives
Our New York-based Equity Derivatives team was formed in 2004 and includes an experienced group of 15 structured product and trading professionals. The group offers many of National Bank of Canada's structured products to U.S. clientele, including:
- Non-recourse leverage financing on money manager trading strategies;
- Hedging and risk management strategies; and
- Equity linked products.

The Fixed Income group distributes all of National Bank Financial's Canadian and U.S. Pay fixed income products to U.S. clientele. We service institutional customers and our customer base includes Hedge Funds, Banks, Insurance companies, Investment Counselors, and Mutual Funds. Our New York-based team has a combined experience of 90 years in the Canadian and U.S. fixed income markets. We strive to be the best source of ideas and expertise for Canadian Fixed Income names in the U.S. market. Our long history of success trading and marketing U.S. Pay Provincial issues is augmented by our growing involvement with Canadian Corporate issuers.

National Bank of Canada Financial Inc. maintains an institutional equity sales desk that markets the National Bank Financial Research product to US Institutional clients.
Merchant Banking
National Bank of Canada Financial Inc. initiates and manages private equity and mezzanine investments. The New York-based Merchant Banking group was launched in 2004. We currently invest in growth-oriented enterprises, with a focus on financial services companies, but will consider investments in other industries in which the expertise of our professionals provides valuable insight. Additionally, we provide third-party capital raising services to clients of our parent company, National Bank Financial.

Yury Shmuylovich is a Managing Director and Head of the US Equity Derivatives group.
Mr. Shmuylovich has been involved in the securities industry for 12 years, with extensive trading and structured products experience. He joined National Bank of Canada Financial Inc. in 2004 and heads U.S. Equity Derivatives for the National Bank of Canada. He previously served as Head of U.S. Equity Derivatives Trading at CommerzBank and Head of U.S. Equity Derivatives Exotic Trading at Bankers Trust.
Mr. Shmuylovich earned a B.S. in Mathematics from MIT.

Richard Zack is a Managing Director in the US Equity Derivatives group where he heads the sales and marketing effort for National Bank of Canada.
Mr. Zack has been involved in the securities industry for 15 years, with extensive risk management and structured products experience. He joined National Bank of Canada Financial Inc. in March 2005. Previously, Mr. Zack was a founding partner of a private wealth management consulting firm. He has worked as a principal at Banc of America Securities, providing hedging and monetization guidance to a broad array of clients, co-headed the high-net-worth equity derivatives effort at Lehman Brothers, and served as the Options Branch Chief at the Securities and Exchange Commission’s Division of Market Regulation in Washington, DC.
Mr. Zack earned a B.A. in Economics from Emory University, a J.D. from Rutgers University, and a L.L.M. (Taxation) from Georgetown University Law Center.

Mr. Meredith is a Managing Director and Head of Proctor NBF Capital Partners, National Banc Financial’s Merchant Banking group.
Prior to joining the Firm in 2004, Mr. Meredith was the founder and Chief Executive Officer of Proctor Capital LLC, a private investment and strategic advisory firm. Mr. Meredith has held senior positions with the leveraged finance units Salomon Brothers Inc and NationsBanc Capital Markets, Inc. and was a partner in the private equity firm Fenway Partners Inc. From 2001 to 2002, he served as the President and Chief Executive Officer of HSBC Capital. Mr. Meredith played professional ice hockey with the Calgary Flames and its affiliates from 1980 to 1984.
Mr. Meredith earned a Bachelor of Business Administration in Finance from the University of Notre Dame and a Masters in Business Administration from the Harvard Business School. He serves on the Board of Directors of Asset Management Finance Corp., Assurz, Inc., Education Finance Partners, Inc., Magnum Jet LLC, and Proctor Investment Managers LLC.
